Supportive Traits

Supportive traits are like great personal assistants that help us navigate through life’s challenges more smoothly. From handling day-to-day responsibilities to tackling complex issues, we often and consciously rely on these trusted aides—our supportive traits—knowing that they are capable and reliable at what they do. Ultimately, living in the absence of our supportive traits is akin to losing both our arms; we would struggle tremendously to function without them.

Your habits shape your identity,
and your identity shapes your habits.

James Clear

As our supportive traits come naturally to us, we tend to employ them effortlessly, as if we are writing and drawing with our dominant hand. Therefore, we often take our supportive traits for granted, not realizing how valuable they are to someone of a different archetype. If left unchecked, we might even run the risk of overusing them, preventing other parts of ourselves from flourishing.

Like our dominant traits, our supportive traits are simply facets of our personalities. Whether they are strengths or weaknesses is entirely dependent on the way we utilize them. If we cultivate and develop our supportive traits well, they can become valuable additions to our toolbox of super strengths. However, if we use them in an unhealthy manner, the same traits will ultimately lead to our undoing.

❱ Uplifting and Participative in Activities

Whenever there is excitement in the air, Adventurers are bound to be at the heart of it. Embodying the spirit of adventure, these eager souls can easily uplift the mood of any room they enter. As sociable people, they engage effortlessly with those around them, spreading positive vibes to everyone they meet. No matter the occasion, Adventurers never fail to entertain as they can always find fun in what they do, especially when it involves others.

Unfortunately, being the life of a party isn't always a good thing. With a tendency to be impulsive, Adventurers might go to extreme lengths just for the sake of fun. As such, they would often dare themselves to take on wild challenges, pressuring others to come along with them. This puts Adventurers in great amounts of danger, as when something bad happens, they might not be able to take the responsibility.

At their worst, Adventurers may get so carried away that they lose all control of their actions. Always living in the thrill of the moment, they tend to push others past their comfort zones, thinking that they are just having fun. What they don't realize is that they are actually invading people's boundaries. If Adventurers aren't careful, their enthusiasm may soon turn into somewhat of an annoyance, and it won't be long before people start avoiding them entirely.

❱ Enthusiastic in Serving Selflessly

With their friends constantly in mind, Adventurers are always looking for how they can help everyone. From providing emotional support to volunteering at charities, give them a call and they'll be right there. At their best, they would even devote themselves to a life of service. So no matter how tough times may get, Adventurers are always willing to serve others, lifting people up to the best of their abilities.

Adventurer

As selfless as they are, Adventurers might sometimes be too quick to help those in need. We all know volunteering is awesome, but it can quickly turn into a problem when they choose to do everything. This often leads them to lose track of their commitments, failing to deliver the many promises they've made. If this continues, the Adventurers' so-called help may end up disappointing others instead.

When Adventurers give too much of themselves to others, they might end up burning out. Feeling overworked or undervalued, they may begin to resent others, without realizing that this was their own doing. This may drive them to become reclusive, unwilling to lend a hand to those in times of need. If Adventurers don't start taking care of themselves, they may soon face a burnout that's beyond repair.

❱ Adaptive in Resolving Issues

In a world filled with many differing opinions, people don't always see eye to eye. But with Adventurers around, at least there's someone to defuse the tension. Their sharp senses are able to pick up the slight changes in expressions, helping them read the room and adapt to it. This allows them to resolve any potential issues between people even before they arise. As such, Adventurers are versatile mediators, navigating through any social situation with ease.

However, resolving conflicts is never as simple as Adventurers picture it to be. To avoid negative vibes, Adventurers often sugarcoat their criticism, thinking that it would make the bitter pill easier to swallow. What they don't realize is that these half-truths are only setting the stage for future conflicts. As such, issues thought to be solved may soon resurface, often coming back even worse than before.

Although being socially adaptive can be helpful, Adventurers might sometimes push it too far. In morally unclear situations, they may find their judgments heavily influenced by the people around them. This is due to their tendency to agree with the consensus before thinking it through themselves. If taken too far, Adventurers may become blind sheeps in a herd, accepting any belief just to fit in. What they don't realize is that they are simply being spineless and insincere.

Thus far, we have explored both the Adventurer's dominant and supportive traits. In our jargon, these traits are known as one's heroic traits. Think about it, don't we all look like heroes when we put these traits to use? Not just wannabe heroes, but real ones—those who are truly powerful yet unimpressed with their own abilities.

Superheroes just doing superhero things.

Superhuman strength and the ability to fly are awesome superpowers that we all wished we had. But Superman doesn't pride himself in any of those abilities. To him, using those powers to save the world is just another day on the job. Similarly, even though we are great at our dominant and supportive traits, we do not find them the least bit amazing. From our perspective, there is nothing special about these mundane things that we do every day.

That said, as heroic as our traits may seem, no hero in the world is perfect. Even the most powerful heroes, such as Naruto, Thor, or Wonder Woman, have their own flaws and weaknesses. However, that does not invalidate them as heroes; it only makes them all the more admirable. The same goes for our own heroic traits. They may not be perfect, but our strive to improve them is what sets us apart.

I am not a hero. I just did what any
decent person would have done.

Miep Gies

When our heroic traits bask in the light, they will inevitably cast shadows—traits that we tend to neglect. Our shadows are foreign to us, as they are the complete opposite of our natural traits. Because we fear what we don't understand, most of us will subconsciously push away or suppress these parts of ourselves. Unfortunately, if we allow the fear of failure to overpower our minds, these suppressed shadows will eventually swallow us whole.

Nevertheless, shadows are not our weaknesses. They are simply parts of ourselves that we are unfamiliar with, and therefore, would rather avoid. But if we harness our shadows, they will eventually become our hidden strengths. It may be daunting at first to explore these dark and unknown parts of ourselves. However, with a curious mind and a compassionate heart, there's nothing to be afraid of. With that said, let us venture deep into the shadows within us.
