Type Perspective
Introduction
Type Perspective is the way Classes perceive the world. There are two ways of doing so, either by seeking variety or ensuring certainty. As mentioned previously, those who seek variety are Explorers while those who seek certainty are Builders.
Explorer Class
Try picturing an Explorer, what image comes to mind? Bet most of you imagined a vine-swinging, gunslinging adventurer who ventures deep into impenetrable jungles in search of forgotten relics and artifacts. While that is true to some extent, in NXT, we define Explorers as those who prioritize the discovery of anything new.
For Explorers, the world is a boundless landscape of opportunity, with so many discoveries waiting to be uncovered. That is why they feel compelled to keep their options open and to seek new perspectives. With that in mind, it is only expected for Explorers to support the free flow of information, as it allows them to expand their knowledge as broadly as possible, preventing an otherwise restrictive world.
Thus, predictability is an Explorer’s greatest enemy, and they hate it when they have to go through the same information over and over again. In some cases, they may even feel anxious and agitated when life becomes too controlled and repressive. Given a choice, they would much rather live a spontaneous and open-ended way of life. After all, luck often favors the adventurous.
Brief technical description: Explorers desire to discover a variety of unknown things in the world by prioritizing varied and new occurrences.
Builder Class
How about Builders? What image comes to mind when you picture them? Most people would probably imagine a group of hard-working, busy laborers laying bricks and pouring cement at a construction site. While that is normally true, in NXT, Builders are defined as those who prioritize the perfection of what is known.
For Builders, this wild and ever-changing world is meant to be tamed. To do so, it must be understood in its entirety. That is why Builders feel compelled to narrow their options down and to refine their pre-existing knowledge. In view of this, it makes sense for Builders to support the regulation of information, as it would ensure that knowledge will not be misused, preventing the risk of widespread chaos.
As such, Builders dislike it when they are faced with drastic changes, especially when they arise unexpectedly. They dread having to continuously receive new information without any time to process it. In some cases, they may even feel troubled and distressed when life becomes too random and chaotic. If they had a choice, they would much prefer a planned and organized way of life. After all, without order, there can be no stability and peace.
Brief technical description: Builders desire to ensure the certainty of things known in the world by prioritizing recurring occurrences.
Conclusion
Now that the Type Perspective has been laid out, let us continue on to Type Strategy, where we will further understand the ways in which Classes make decisions.
