Framework
Introduction
There are several good personality frameworks that have managed to address many of the challenges as mentioned in the previous part. Unfortunately, there seems to be none that are completely free from its clutches. Although these frameworks may excel in one aspect, they tend to fall short in others.
After searching far and wide, we realized that if we wanted a valid and comprehensive personality framework, we had to develop one ourselves. This led to the creation of the Neo-Jungian Experiential Typology personality framework, also known as NXT for short.
Excited by the prospect of an entirely new system, each of us had our own areas of interest that we wanted to focus on. Obviously, this would have resulted in chaos. As such, we directed all our efforts toward a singular purpose: to develop a system that can truly help others grow. We accomplish this by offering a framework that reflects real-life experiences and is accessible to all.
In The Beginning
To understand the meaning behind the name of our framework, we must take a look at its backstory. In the process of developing NXT, our research went all the way back to the humble beginnings of typology. From there, it was clear to us that Jung’s theory of cognitive functions was still the most concrete framework out there. As such, we made it the bedrock of our system.
Like many others before us, we recognized the immense potential that lay within Jung’s revelations and sought to make it accessible to all. However, for the world to benefit from his discoveries, we had to make significant improvements to his ideas in order to bring it up to date with the present. Because our system is an evolution of Jung’s original works, it can be considered Neo-Jungian.
Another feature of the NXT framework is that it is eXperiential, which means it is developed through objective observations of human behavior. We take pride in this as we have spent over 20,000 hours typing more than thousands of people in the past years. Our relentless effort was driven by a deep-seated desire to create a system that accurately reflects reality, not only a theoretical one.
Finally, the word Typology stands for the systematic classification of things based on shared characteristics. In the context of psychology, it involves sorting people into personality types to understand them better. But to be clear, we are not trying to confine people with fixed labels. All we want to do is provide others with a tool to discover themselves. In doing so, we hope that it will accelerate their growth and help them unlock their fullest potential as soon as possible.
And with that, NXT is born!
Mind Mapping
Instead of a cage or a box, our framework is more of a map to your psyche. Once we determine your archetype, we can then draw up a map tailored for you. But what is the point of a map? Well for most, the mind is an exotic landscape that remains largely uncharted. If one explores it without any prior knowledge, they might just head in the wrong direction, or worse, end up in a pitfall.
Our map lays out the terrains of your complex mind, pinning down important aspects of your personality to give you a better idea of who you really are. By familiarizing yourself with your mind’s geography, you can then plot out the best route for your personal growth. Of course, it is possible to navigate your way to self-mastery without a map, but having a guide from the start would make your journey much more fruitful and productive.
Personality Ninja
In terms of self-growth, when people seek to master themselves, they often focus on honing their practical skills. They may try to learn how to code, play a new instrument, or improve their management abilities. All these pursuits are worthwhile of course, but at Personality Ninja, we believe that to truly master oneself, one must first master the mind.
That is why we chose to incorporate the concept of ninjas into our framework. While ninjas are often associated with hidden smoke bombs, deadly shurikens, and secret ninjutsu techniques, their mastery does not come from these attributes. Instead, they are considered masters simply because they have conquered their minds.
Unfortunately, the English word “ninja” does not do justice to its symbolic meaning. To perfectly capture the essence of a ninja’s unyielding spirit, we must trace the word back to its kanji origins.
In Japanese, the kanji characters for ninja is 忍者. The kanji 忍 is composed of two kanji characters, 刃 and 心. 刃 represents a blade, while 心 represents the heart. When these two kanji characters are combined, they form the word 忍 (shinobi), which means to endure, or to bear. Why? Because it takes every last bit of one’s strength to go through the entire day carrying a blade in their heart.
The takeaway here is that if you truly want to know yourself, you must first know what cuts you deep. Don’t be afraid to look for that blade in your life. Find the problems that you lack the courage to confront and face them head on, take a blade through the heart if you have to. That is what it means to be a ninja. It is a beautiful reminder that no tree can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell.
With that said, it becomes clear as to why ninjas can overcome even the most impossible challenges; they will do whatever it takes to get the job done. Similarly, when one masters their own mind, they too will find themselves traversing life’s trials and tribulations with ease. After all, our minds are ultimately what makes or breaks us.
As such, we consider anyone who finds their way to our website a ninja. Because either consciously or subconsciously, most of you came here to discover yourselves, and to unlock the next phase of personal growth. Plus, if you’ve ever worked on becoming a better person, you know that it’s a difficult uphill battle. Thus, the courage to change alone is enough to make all of you personality ninjas in our eyes!
Planning your journey without a
map is like building a house
without any diagrams.
So, how do we master the mind? Well, it is no easy feat, given its mysterious workings. Because of that, having a map as a guide would help tremendously. Even if you prefer not to follow fixed routes or precise directions, the free map that we are offering can at least point you in the right direction, preventing you from getting lost. It also gives you an idea of where potential dangers may lie, marking out the paths that will lead to a more fulfilling journey in life.
Just as a map is divided into different parts, the mind is likewise divided into different regions. Recognizing them is crucial in order to gain a clearer picture of who we are.
The thing is, the core of one’s personality is simple, yet complex. Therefore, the explanation of our framework can sometimes be really complicated, involving numerous technicalities. In response, we simplified our theory to make it much easier to remember and understand. The result of this is NXT CORE.
Bringing a new approach to personality, this simplification breaks down intricate human behaviors into terms that everyday people can grasp. CORE stands for Class, Origins, Rhythm, and Energy; all of which represents a facet of one’s personality. Together, they illustrate our framework in a holistic and digestible manner.
The sections below will explain each of the aspects in detail, laying out the fundamental ideas of NXT.
