Introduction
Type Focus is the primary topic of NXT Class. If you are new to this topic, do refer to the Introduction of NXT Class to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Type Focus.
Overview
As mentioned previously in the Introduction of NXT Class, human motives can essentially be categorized into the four primal human desires: variety, certainty, belonging, and significance. Although everyone shares these desires to a certain extent, the order in which each individual prioritizes them differs.
This section, Type Focus, will delve into the classification of Observers and Deciders, as well as how they examine or evaluate the world. Depending on one’s Dominant Hero Class, an individual either prioritizes making observations or decisions.
Individuals who are of the Builder (B) or Explorer (X) Class will focus more on Observations, and are therefore known as Observers. On the other hand, those who are of the Leader (L) or Evolver (V) Class will focus more on Decisions, and are therefore known as Deciders.
Key Definitions
Definition of Observation:
The knowledge obtained through examining, primarily centered around phenomena.
Definition of Decision:

Definition of Examining:
Inspecting the details and attributes of a subject.
Definition of Evaluating:

Observer
Observers are individuals who are of the Explorer (X) or Builder (B) Class. These individuals are classified as Observers because they have an Observing Function as their Dominant Function. Observing Functions are also known as Perceiving Functions, because they are used to make observations by examining the world for knowledge.
Individuals who are of the Explorer (X) Class have either Extraverted Sensing (SE) or Extraverted Intuition (NE) as their Observing Function. On the other hand, Builder (B) Class have either Introverted Sensing (SI) or Introverted Intuition (NI) as their Observing Function.
Decider
Deciders are individuals who are of the Leader (L) or Evolver (V) Class. These individuals are classified as Deciders because they have a Decider Function as their Dominant Function. Decider Functions are also known as Judging Functions, because they are used to make decisions by evaluating the world with opinions.
Individuals who are of the Leader (L) Class have either Extraverted Thinking (TE) or Extraverted Feeling (FE) as their Deciding Function. On the other hand, Evolver (V) Class have either Introverted Thinking (TI) or Introverted Feeling (FI) as their Deciding Function.
Mechanism
For those who are new to Jungian typology, a Cognitive Function is a specific psychological pattern that utilizes varying cognitive processes to achieve a desired purpose. There are a total of eight Cognitive Functions, each prioritized differently among different individuals.
Under Type Focus, the Cognitive Functions are categorized into Observing Functions and Deciding Functions as described above. Depending on which Type Focus one prioritizes, it will form the individual's first function known as the Dominant Function. Subsequently, their second function, known as the Supportive Function, will be the opposite Type Focus.
For example, the Specialist archetype is known as an Observer because it has an Observing Function as its Dominant Function. Automatically, it is followed by a Deciding Function as its Supportive Function.
In contrast, the Advocate archetype is known as a Decider because it has a Deciding Function as its Dominant Function. Automatically, it is followed by an Observing Function as its Supportive Function.
Each individual utilizes more than just two Cognitive Functions, but the first Cognitive Function is the most important, having the biggest influence on an individual. As for the other functions, the principles behind their arrangement will be explored further in the subsequent sections and topics.
