SI Familiarity

SI Familiarity belongs to one of the eight Type Instincts in the NXT personality framework. If you are new or unfamiliar with the topic, do refer to the Introduction of Type Instinct for more information.

Overview

Concrete Familiarity, or Familiarity for short, is the Type Instinct for archetypes who have Introverted Sensing (SI) as their Dominant Cognitive Function.

Introverted Sensing is an Introverted Explicit Perceiving Cognitive Function, used to ensure the certainty of things known in the world by discerning the most refined and tangible facts through recurring concrete realities.

This Cognitive Function is relatively subjective and denotative as it prioritizes the most intriguing facts identified through reoccurring perceptions in order to acquire concrete familiarity.

As such, Introverted Sensors tend to focus on building upon known facts, most noticeably by finding related details and incidents from the past, all of which promote concrete familiarity.

Brief technical description: Introverted Sensing seeks for the most refined and tangible facts by prioritizing concrete familiarity.

To provide greater clarity and understanding of the descriptions above, below are the key definitions for the specific terms used.

Key Definitions

Definition of Familiarity:
The knowledge of things that have been learned, experienced, or noticed before.

Note: Although everyone may enjoy a sense of familiarity at some point in their lifetimes, Familiarity for a NXT Introverted Sensor is specifically tied to their instinct to seek for similarities with their prior experiences.

Definition of Introverted:
Referring to a psychological orientation that is centered around the subjective viewpoint of one's inner world.

Note: Introverted is an original term by Carl Jung. Introverted in this context is not to be confused with the typical understanding of an introvert, such as being quiet, reserved, or someone who shies away from the spotlight.

Definition of Sensing:
Processing concrete realities by focusing primarily on details and data that are factual.

Note: Sensing includes, but is not limited to: noticing tangible details, providing factual data, and tracking physical experiences.

Definition of Building:
Prioritizing what is known by focusing primarily on refining pre-existing information.

Note: Building includes, but is not limited to: perfecting known approaches, improving acquired knowledge, and constructing meticulous plans.

Definition of Subjective:
Based on the personal interpretation of matters.

Note: A personal interpretation is not equivalent to an inaccurate or worse interpretation, but merely one that is more attached to the individual.

Definition of Concrete:
Actual and tangible, existing only in physical reality.

Note: Apart from physical entities that are evidently concrete, data and statistics are also considered to be concrete, as they refer to tangible facts that have been collected and recorded.

Definition of Familiar:
Within an individual's usual experiences or awareness.

Note: Familiar relates to the desire for certainty as it repeats something that is known, creating a sense of security.

Definition of Denotative:
Describing the literal description or representation of something rather than the implied meaning or representation.

Note: For example, the word "cold" would literally mean something absent of heat, instead of the implied meaning of someone being emotionless.

Definition of Fact:
Things that are proven to be true in reality, usually without any attached meaning to it.

Note: People tend to use common phrases such as "it's a fact" or "the fact is". However, it does not necessarily mean that they are providing a fact, but merely implying that they are certain of something.

Derivative Traits

As mentioned above, Introverted Sensors are individuals who focus on making subjective observations that are concrete by examining the world internally for familiar knowledge consisting of denotative facts. As such, various characteristics can be expanded upon this core trait to understand it better.

To illustrate an experiential depiction of an individual who seeks Concrete Familiarity, here are some possible derivative traits that are commonly reported from individuals of this Type Instinct.

  1. Observes by relating matters to past recollections that share similar physical experiences.
  2. Thrives in an ordered setting that requires forming detailed and meticulous plans.
  3. Relies on concrete familiarity while disregarding various forms of speculative connections.
  4. Provides a recollection of facts or past events in an organized and step-by-step manner.
  5. Achieves success by refining established ways, resulting in a sense of stability in life.
Note: As these are some possible derivative traits, a person of this Type Instinct will either display some or most of the attributes above, with differing frequency and intensity.

Thematic Details

Within the fictional world of Mochiverse, the Type Instinct of an archetype is represented by the ninja's clan. In particular, individuals who seek for Familiarity are represented by the Bear Clan.

The reason for this animal choice is because Bears symbolize stability, perseverance and strength, qualities that reflect individuals with Introverted Sensing. Hence, Bear Ninjas find no trouble in maintaining order, granting them the ability to sustain a structured lifestyle.

To be specific, the Bear Clan is made up of two subclans, namely the Iron and Glacier Bear Clan. Those who belong to the Iron Bear Clan have a Thinking Function as their Supportive Function. On the other hand, those who belong to the Glacier Bear Clan have a Feeling Function as their Supportive Function.

Due to the different Supporting Functions, both subclans vary slightly in terms of their Type Tactics. Ninjas hailing from the Iron Bear Clan are diligent builders who are resolute at executing their tasks properly. Likewise, ninjas hailing from the Glacier Bear Clan are dedicated builders who are committed to fulfilling their duties wholeheartedly.
